DOCTORS

INFORMATION FOR DOCTORS

Contracting for health care services can be complicated for everyone involved.   NVA was formed by physicians in the belief that all parties benefit when independent doctors belong to an organization that represents their needs and has experience working with health plans and programs.

What We Do
NVA’s primary activities on behalf of its member doctors include:

  • Marketing to health plans and payers seeking quality arrangements for eye care
  • Negotiating to obtain competitive group contracts for medical and “well” eye care
  • Administering group contracts and reviewing them annually for changes
  • Credentialing doctors consistent with standards established by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
  • Assisting doctors in working with health plans and payers

Benefits for Doctors
Most NVA contracts are more competitive than those offered to doctors on an individual basis by health plans and programs.

NVA reviews contracts periodically and works with payers to suggest and implement changes.  NVA also researches health plans and programs to identify potential opportunities for doctors.

Most NVA contracts allow doctors to provide and receive payment for both medical eye care and “routine” eye services.

Doctors can send NVA practice update information and NVA will forward information automatically to plans and programs.

Doctors can re-credential through NVA when NVA performs delegated credentialing for a health plan.

Through NVA, doctors receive comprehensive contract information and updates not available through other sources.
